IIE is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial engineering profession and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity. Founded in 1948, IIE is an international, nonprofit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial engineering.
The Waterloo Institute of Industrial Engineers (WIIE) Chapter was formed in 2012 by an inspired group of Management Engineering students. The WIIE Chapter is a way for students to come together in the pursuit of gaining a deeper understanding of the discipline. Further, the chapter seeks to educate others about Management and Industrial Engineering, to network with professional Engineers, and to learn from other Industrial Engineering institutions. WIIE is open to any interested person, regardless of discipline.
Most recently, the global organization of IIE has changed to IISE in an effort to adopt Systems Engineers. With that, the UW Chapter is undergoing changes of its own. We are now UWaterlooIISE.
